Mentoring

An important component of this program is for the scholar to form a mentorship relationship with several people in the field of human services. The point of forming multiple relationships is to gain multiple perspectives on approaches to problems. At the start of the program, the scholar will have access to a "committee" of three who will task themselves with making certain that the scholar has access to needed resources, to appropriate internship opportunities with graduated responsibility, and, ultimately, to a career in human services. The intent is to foster relationships between mentors and scholars that hold promise for mutual growth and sustainability beyond this program.

As a Mentor

Mentoring for this program is designed so that each scholar has, at least, three mentors. These mentors will be consulted with regard to problem-solving, progress, scholarship renewal, internship placement and career path. This part of the program is meant to build a series of vital relationships giving you the opportunity to help the succeeding generation.

We expect scholars to question the status quo. We expect scholars to improve on our work. The role of the mentor is to contribute to the next generation learning from and surpassing us.
