Who Needs this Update?

From this page you may download your new EC3 program update. There are two types of update: program file update (which we call "server update") and a workstation update (which we call "client update"). We offer several ways to update the server/program files.

Preparation for Downloading and Installing

Before installing the update, be sure that all users have exited from EC3.

Prior to updating, we recommend that you back up your entire EC3 folder. At a minimum, you must back up your EC3 Database folder (including data3.mdb, AFORMS folder, CFORMS folder, COVPAGES folder, PLANTEXT folder, REVIEWS folder, etc.).

EC3 8.5.02 Server Update

The server update changes the EC3 program files, readme files and 7 reports. Whether you are a single user or use EC3 on a network, you need to do this update.

You can either copy and paste the files to the EC3 program directory, or run an installation program that lets you browse for the EC3 directory.

• Copy and Paste: Download EC3 8.5.02 updated files (allows you to copy and paste files to the EC3 program directory)

• Directed Installation: Download EC3 8.5.02 Installation Program (you will be asked to locate the correct directory location to install the EC3 updated program files)

EC3 8.5 Client Update

Install this update if you receive an error message while using EC3 version 8.5, 8.5.01 or 8.5.02. The error message will mention "msstdfmt.dll" or "mscomct2.ocx" or will refer to an unregistered component.

For single desktop users or network users, install the update on the user's desktop. For terminal server users, install the update on the terminal server.

• Client Patch (to be run to update workstation windows system files)

Both updates will need to be installed in cases where the entire EC3 program is run on a single desktop.

Activating this Version of EC3

The first time you run EC3 after installing this update, you will be asked to enter a “key code.” You should have received your unique key code via email. After this version of EC3 is installed, a new key code will need to be entered only when there are changes to your EC3 subscription.

Adding New Users

Should you need to add a new user to your EC3 network, in addition to mapping a drive that is identical to all other EC3 users, you will need to use your EC3 Version 8.4 installation disc to complete a client install. Then update the desktop using EC3 8.5 Client Patch. For terminal server users, no installation is needed.
